Gas is accumulated in the body primarily because one swallows excess air while eating.Indigestion is another major factor which is responsible for gas formation which usually gets accumulated in the abdomen region of the body thereby leading to bloating and belching problems. And it is this very gas which rises up to the chest region and causes severe discomfort. Further, if a person eats the wrong type of food or does not chew his food properly before swallowing it he automatically takes in a lot of air which may result in a symptom known as gas. Other causes of gas may include but may not be exclusively limited to ingestion of food that has been fermented, dairy products, beans and legumes, carbonated drinks, potatoes or other food items that cause a gas build-up in the stomach and in the chest area.
Notably, most people associate chest pain with the heart as the gas which accumulates in the stomach and abdomen can cause pressure on the lower part of the oesophagus which invariably leads to stretching the muscles of the food pipe and associated nerve endings which simulate a heart attack or the presence of angina. Popular symptoms of trapped gas include the feeling of heaviness and significant pressure in the chest area. Another symptom is significant belching which is the body’s way to try to release the trapped gas in the chest area.
Notwithstanding the above mentioned, below mentioned are some of the home remedieswhich help in curbing chest pain:-
Garlic is an effective remedy to relieve one of chest pain as eating boiled 4-5 garlic pods with a glass of milk can cure indigestion and therefore can cure chest pain too.
Mixing a little of bicarbonate soda in a glass of water will enhance belching and burping which in the process will release more gas and will ultimately end up curing you of chest pain.

Moreover, ginger helps the body to digest food that is heavy and also helps to minimize the formation of gas. The ginger can be added to one’s diet or simply chew a piece of fresh ginger. Ginger is the digestive cholagogue. It helps digest heavy food and reduce gas formation.
An additional home remedy is asafetidea. In addition to minimizing flatulence and gas, this remedy has been known to help in the reduction of stomach cramps. A simple pinch of this substance to a glass of buttermilk will help relieve gas in the chest area.
